Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Hon. Daryl Vaz, makes his Sectoral Presentation in the House of Representatives on May 15.

The Government plans to utilise lands owned by the Factories Corporation of Jamaica (FCJ) and the National Insurance Fund (NIF) in Boundbrook, Portland, to facilitate the relocation of 11 government agencies.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Hon. Daryl Vaz, explained that the objective is to provide more comfortable surroundings for staff and members of the public.

“Let us move all the government entities, on one compound with proper parking, proper sanitation, proper everything,” he said.

Mr. Vaz, who is also the Member of Parliament for West Portland, was making his Sectoral Presentation in the House of Representatives on May 15, under the theme ‘Creating Jobs… Empowering Jamaicans’.

He further announced plans to establish transport centres in the parish capital and in Buff Bay.

“Portland Municipal Corporation, in conjunction with the Transport Authority, has identified land and is moving assiduously to set up (the facilities), as the two places are bursting at their seams,” he said, noting that they will improve traffic management.

Other plans for the parish include the development and installation of lights at three sports facilities – Caenwood, Lynch Park and Carder Park.
