PM Portia Simpson Miller, in the 2012 Election Campaign …. then Opposition Leader promised to review the Buggery Act. She also promised to allow a “conscience vote” in the House on this “messy” subject. Most Jamaicans are widely believed to be defiantly homophobic. Four years later these election promises have not materialized.

The church leaders have united against the possible repeal of this Buggary act. It is with this background that two rallies have been staged under the umbrella organization called Churches Action Uniting Society for Emancipation (CAUSE)

Speaker after speaker condemned homosexuality, and promoted wholesome traditional family values. Jamaicans have long been viewed as “Christians” and regularly quote among other books, the book of Leviticus from the Holy Bible, as the yardstick for their moral judgement to guide their sexual/moral conduct.
The Good Book, the bible, speaks out against people of “reprobate mind”. People of the same sex lying with each other is a no no for Christians … and by extension nothing to glorify …. much less concretize….. as it relates to marriage. This type of lifestyle is an abomination to the Christian perspective and is to be frowned on or condemned

In an exclusive interview President of Lawyers Christian Fellowship, Helen Coley-Nicholson declared in a telephone link up ” We are firm on our views, we support sound family values based on biblical principles . We are not going to be led to feel ashamed of our position. We believe in freedom of expression …. we are not going to feel guilty or made to feel guilty as a result of our position.”

Queen Ifrika irked the gay community when she promoted traditional family values based on biblical principles ….For example: Adam & Eve type relationship. .. not Peter & Paul or Mary & Marcia as sexual partners) or same sex unions.

She was a featured artiste at a Grand Gala Event to celebrate our Independence at the National Stadium, Jamaica …. some three years ago. An estimated thirty six thousand persons (36000) were in attendance and the show was beamed live both locally and internationally. She slammed the homosexual lifestyle …. gays threatened to blacklist her.

Queen Ifrika is a Rastafarian of some repute….. renowned for excellent vocal pitch and superb lyrical content.

Her comments at the Stadium caused quite a stir at the time.
