Emerging dancehall artiste Benji Hype is on cloud nine following his recent interview and musical feature on New York’s influential urban radio station WHQT Hot 97 FM. “The interview was done over the Labour Day weekend celebrations and it’s a real good look for my career. The interview has helped in a major way because it provided the platform for persons from a different demographic to hear my music. The exposure was good,” Benji explained in a media release.

The interview focused on Benji’s career and his latest single Geet Weh (produced by College Boyz) and Rave Everyday (BH Records).

Based between Jamaica and New York, Benji is currently in the island where he has been doing a media blitz. He is also finalising plans to shoot a video for Geet Weh, which will be directed by Terminal 4 Media.

Originally from Mandeville, Manchester, the 27-year-old, whose real name is Bernard Wint, migrated to the US during his teenage years. With the support of his mother and family, he grew even more confident in his ability to entertain and the need to express himself through music.

He made his professional recording debut in 2011 with the song Brands Of All Brands which was produced by House of Stars label. Since then, he has worked with a long list of top producers in the game including Truck Back Records, College Boyz, Dre Day Records and House of Stars.

Earlier this week, Benji performed at a weekly dance session in St Elizabeth. He noted that the response to Geet Weh and Rave Everyday was overwhelming.
