Despite enjoying an upswing in the latter half of last year with one of the most rotated songs on radio and a plethora of performances, 2014 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for resurgent dancehall star, Bramma ‘Di Gorilla’.

The deejay’s red-hot single, Cha Cha Bwoy, produced by Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor and featured on the Mad World rhythm, has been annexed to the playlist of Home Boyz Radio in Kenya and BBC 1Xtra in Britain. The aforementioned are two of the biggest and most in-demand radio outlets in Africa and the United Kingdom, respectively.

According to the Some People crooner, he never realised the song was doing so well internationally.

creating quite a buzz

‘I know Cha Cha Bwoy gets a lot of airtime locally and across the Caribbean; much respect to all the DJs for that – but since of late, I’ve been getting a lot of calls and messages from Europe and Africa telling me the song is creating quite a buzz … I want to use this medium to personally thank everyone who has been instrumental in the process.”

Checks with various international players revealed that the impact of Cha Cha Bwoy is definitely saturating sections of Africa and Britain especially in Nairobi and London. The artiste’s management company, S-Lock Entertainment, is currently locked in talks with various promotional entities regarding show dates on both continents later in the year.

Reacting to the news, Bramma added that plans are already afoot to increase the visibility around this and other songs for the new year.

Coming on the heels of his recent feature in the 2013 winter edition of Canada’s L3 Magazine, Bramma is also set to release three new singles courtesy of Stephen Di Genius McGregor and S-Lock Entertainment accompanied by a video for Wah Gwan Mi Darlin. The latter is featured on the Rising Sun rhythm produced by Chimney Records.
