Devontée releases much anticipated Head Gone album

Toronto, ON (September 14, 2018): Today, rising rap star Devontée drops his highly anticipated Head Gone album. Described as a perfect blend of the sounds of his cultural upbringing (Toronto, Jamaica) with that of his current musical adventures throughout the United States, Head Gone’s hypnotizing bass heavy sounds, catchy flows and melodies, combined with its potent messages with purpose, are sure to become streaming playlist staples.

“The term Head Gone stems from my Jamaican father’s reggae/dancehall influence,” explains the producer/rapper who first came to the attention of North American media types with his critically-acclaimed single “Bare Tings” that originated the viral WOE phenom popularized in Drake’s “Know Yourself”. “The first song I recorded was “Wild West” in New York City’s Quad Studios, and I recorded “Overthinking” and “Haunted” in my cousins Ayesha & Stephen Curry’s pool house. I recorded “Bless” with Kevin Durant at his house in Oakland (and ended up mixing & mastering the whole album there) and I recorded and produced “Growing Crazy” and “Real Rudebwoy” the same weekend at OVO 40’s studio in Toronto. Thankfully, listeners get to hear a whole range of influences from my family, friends and peers on here.”

Head Gone features notable collaborations with Toronto rap icon Kardinal Offishall, Pro Era’s CJ Fly, fast rising UK grime emcee Eyez, in addition to burgeoning talents Ravaillac, Daxz, Midknight, Maad, and Sleighn. Having guested on and produced commercial hits like late 2017’s “Temperamental Love” with American actor and pop singer Bridgit Mendler, Devontée’s musical penetration and ultimate domination of global playlists and charts is inevitable.

“I look around but there’s rarely any souls to be found
Bodies everywhere, heads up heads down
Lost spirits no guidance with lack of self control
The violence with the heat has risen and it’s taken a toll”
– Head Gone
