Doping Takes Centre Stage … Usain Bolts Frowns on Cheats … Welcome Tests …

BOLT-SMILES_w445As the spotlight is turned on drug cheats in sports the World Antidoping Agency has issued a statement warning that some 31 world athletes could miss the August Olympics in Rio, Brazil, due to negative doping tests results.

Multi world record holder Usain Bolt has hailed this development as a positive more for athletics. “This is helping to clean up the sport even after 10 years of tests” Bolt is quoted as remarking.

The World Antidoping Agency (WADA) is headed by Canadian Lawyer Dick Pound. Pound has been on a campaign to clean up the sport for sometime now. You will recall that Russia was banned not so long ago as the integrity of their drug testing programme failed the test.

There are reports that there has been an institutionalised system to cover up drug use and tests in athletics in particular.

Beijing, China

Tests from the Beijing Olympics are still being looked as far back as 2008. Drug cheats get an unfair advantage over clean athletes … as they play outside the rules. You could call it ill- gotten fame.
