Encore Dance Hall of Famehi announces live performances
Performances announced for Encore! Dance Hall of Fame event.
March, 2018, Toronto On: Dance Collection Danse will launch the Encore! Dance Hall of Fame– with an annual induction ceremony. The event will unite the dance community from coast to coast to celebrate the honourees for their life long contributions to dance in Canada.
A stellar line up of live performances has been added including:
- Patricia Beatty’s ‘Radical Light’- Nicole Rose Bond/Philip McDermott
- Robert Binet- Solo for Jenna Savella
- Rock Bottom Movement
- Bill Coleman and Lee Maracle
- Evelyn Hart
- Kashe Dance
- Angelica Scannura
“The calibre of performers who have committed to our event is a real testament to the arts community’s response to a Canadian dance hall of fame.” says Adams.
Honorees are associated with many dance disciplines – from Kathak to ballet to modern.
The inductees include Veronica Tennant, Danny Grossman, Karen Jamieson, Rina Singha, Alan and Blanche Lund, René Highway, and Jeanne Renaud, Ola Skanks and Community Builders, Joan & Jerry Lozinski.
DCD Co-founder and Director, Miriam Adams, C.M. says, “We are long overdue in recognizing the contributions of Canadian dance artists to our cultural legacy and landscape. We have artists from across the country, diverse disciplines and demographics that have really put Canada on the international dance stage. Their contributions cannot be underestimated”
The induction ceremony will be hosted by CBC Radio host, Laurie Brown.
Dance Collection Danse is the only gatekeeper of a comprehensive Canadian dance archives, museum and research centre. Dance educators and artists depend on the extensive expertise available at DCD – in existence for over 30 years
