Grange: Brian George was a great friend of Jamaica

Kingston, October 23, 2016 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange has expressed deep sadness at the passing of Supreme Ventures President and CEO, Brian George.

Minister Grange said:

“Brian was a proud Trinidadian and also a great friend of Jamaica. He offered such outstanding support to Jamaican sports, culture, and other critical areas of national development, over the years — not only through the lottery company which he so ably led.

“Brian was personally committed to Jamaica’s development.

“His passing today is both a shock and a blow. We will miss him dearly.

“I extend condolences to his family and friends at this time.”

Brian George had been President and CEO of Supreme Ventures Limited (a lottery company) since 2003.

Under law, contributions from lottery companies have been used to fund sports development, early childhood education, health, arts and culture.

Commentary

Minister Grange underscores the financial contribution made by the lottery company that was headed by the late Brian George.

Supreme Ventures, the lottery company gave a lot to the sporting arena and paid a significant amount in gaming taxes to our economy.

Brian George was a true friend of Jamaica. He will be sadly missed.

May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on him. At 59, George is gone too soon.
