NEW YORK (AP) _ DeMarre Carroll scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half, Paul Millsap had 17 points and Atlanta beat Brooklyn for its fifth straight victory.

Brook Lopez had 20 points and Joe Johnson added 12 for the Nets, who had won two straight _ including a tough victory over the defending champion Spurs on Wednesday night.

Jeff Teague finished with 14 points and Dennis Schroder scored 13 for the Hawks, who led by as many as 32 and improved to 4-4 on the road. Atlanta is 8-2 at home.

Shabazz Muhammad scored 20 points for the Timberwolves, who were coming off an embarrassing loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday night that snapped the 76ers’ 17-game losing streak to start the season.
