JAMBANA One World Festival Looks for JAMBANA IDOL 2016
JAMBANA™ One World Festival is looking for the next JAMBANA™ Idol who will win cash prizes, as well as a coveted spot to perform as part of the JAMBANA™ 2017 line-up in front of 20,000 + attendees!
Presented by Western Union, JAMBANA™ Idol is a modern day twist on the Jones & Jones Talent Search which began in the late 80’s in Toronto. JAMBANA™ Idol gives budding performers the chance to submit their talents online via JAMBANA.COM/IDOL. Music, dance, spoken word or comedy, performers must submit a 60 second video and contact information between June 21st and July 25th for consideration. Top five entrants will be selected and will be contacted to perform in the finals on of the contest on Sunday July 31st. That day’s JAMBANA™ lineup includes, Judy Mowatt, Glen Washington and Jahmali. First, second and third place winners will perform again on Monday August 1st and share the stage that day with headliners King Yellowman and the Sagittarius band, Mikey Spice and 4 time JUNO winner Exco Levi. First prize in JAMBANA™ is $1,000, second and third prize is $500 and the 2016 JAMBANA™ Idol winner secures a spot on JAMBANA™ 2017!
Jones & Jones has a history of discovering great talent and bringing it to stages both nationally and internationally. Denise Jones, President of Jones & Jones, is the Founding Chair of the Best Reggae Recording Category in the JUNO Awards. Jesse Jones, son of the Jones & Jones founders Allan and Denise Jones says, “We continue to get a great deal of email and phone calls from aspiring artists who want a chance to perform on the JAMBANA™ One World Festival stage. We know the next ‘great’ is in our midst. JAMBANA™ Idol creates a stage for those with a dream to shine. We provide the platform and it’s their job to wow the crowd of 20,000. Last year was fantastic and we expect 2016 to continue to raise the bar.”
The 8th annual JAMBANA™ One World Festival, produced by Jones & Jones Productions, is a fusion of global cultures coming together at the Markham Fair Grounds on Sunday July 31st and Monday August 1st, 2016.
The Festival runs from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm both days and doors open at 12 Noon.
The two-day ‘Fun For The Family’ Festival is a unique experience designed with a Village concept. The nonstop activity in our Entertainment Village features the world’s finest musical acts, exciting DJ’s who provide “Edutainment” as they take you through history of the Afro-Caribbean experience. Our Health Village shares good news of good health and the ‘Lick A Six’ Domino Village is historical and contemporary – a game which began in the 1400’s and continues globally in 2016. Our Travel and Trade Village includes JAMPRO’s feature of 9 Jamaican-based businesses and our Arts and Crafts Village brings creative artisans work to the festival. MC’s include the icon Barry G, Master T and the voice of Jones & Jones, Allan Jones.
