JMA Trade Show to Boost Brand Jamaica

The June 1 to 3 Jamaica International Exhibition (JIE), organised by the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA), is expected to be a major plus for brand Jamaica.

Member of the organising committee, Dollis Campbell, says the event, which will link local and overseas buyers and suppliers, will provide an avenue for local businesses, particularly the smaller players, to connect to the world.

“There is hardly anything that could compare with the kind of personal interaction between buyers and suppliers that the JIE will provide,” she said.

Ms. Campbell was speaking at a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Think Tank at the agency’s Montego Bay Regional Office on May 24.

She noted that the international trade show, to be held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, “will see brand Jamaica on full display and in an environment that will add credence to the Government’s mantra that the country is indeed open for business.”

“We will be seeing a number of attendees from within the Caribbean and also from places such as Europe and North America. This is the kind of vehicle where we will have the opportunity to demonstrate to the world that we are indeed the destination of choice and a place where the climate is conducive for business,” she said.

“The opportunities that will be available at the JIE are not only tremendous but will also create an unprecedented level of access to the global marketplace for Jamaican businesses,” she noted further.

“This will be a great opportunity for our manufacturers and other stakeholders in getting to interact in a forum of this magnitude and right here in Jamaica,” she added.

Ms. Campbell said the JMA will be ensuring that the event will have the desired effect of putting the manufacturing sector on the world stage, as a key engine of economic growth.

The JMA will also be facilitating the significant planning and logistical details to ensure that linkages are made between buyers and suppliers.

Ms. Campbell said the organisers are encouraged by the number of participants, who will be representing the various sectors, and is inviting others to come on board.

“This far reaching, highly ambitious and sure-to-deliver event guarantees the broadest and most expansive exposure of your company to a regional and international audience. As organisers of this remarkable event, we are confident that our goal of ensuring maximum visibility for all the participants will be fully realised,” she noted.
