ENCINO, Calif. _ Taj Jackson says his grandfather Joe Jackson is “doing a lot better” after having a stroke in late July while visiting Brazil.

“Prognosis is good,” said Taj of the 87-year-old Jackson patriarch during an interview Tuesday at the family’s Encino, Calif. estate.

“He’s strong and at the same time he’s got Jackson hard-headedness of like when you’re supposed to take it easy, not taking it easy. So that’s the only thing I worry about,” said Taj, who is Michael Jackson‘s nephew.

Taj, along with brothers TJ and Taryll Jackson, sons of Tito, one of the original Jackson Five, spoke at an event promoting their reality docuseries, “The Jacksons: Next Generation.”

“I think my uncle would be proud of the show because we’re honest and real and I think he knows at the core we’re all about family and love,” said TJ. “I think sometimes you have to show your wounds and your imperfections so people can relate to it.”

Along with his nephews, Michael Jackson‘s children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, and mother, Katherine Jackson, are also featured in the Lifetime series premiering Oct. 2.
