KARDINAL OFFISHALL PREMIERES NEW VIDEO No Reason

KARDINAL OFFISHALL

Toronto, ON – January 6, 2016 – Canada’s original international hip hop ambassador and Billboard charting rapper/producer Kardinal Offishall is pleased to premiere his new video “No Reason” from his latest Kardi Gras Volume One: The Clash album. The video is currently streaming and can be seen and shared here:

The 17 times nominated four time Juno Award-winning emcee, producer, philanthropist and label executive who popularized the cross pollination of hip hop and dancehall music styles, and who has recorded a string of buzz worthy collaborative songs over the years with many of the music industry’s top performers including Pharrell, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, DJ Snake, T-Pain, Lil’ Jon and Vybz Kartel, also appears on the recent R. City featuring Adam Levine (Maroon 5) “Locked Away” hit single remix (the original version has already been viewed over 230 million times on youtube).

Kardinal calls his new single and video for “No Reason” one of his most stimulating yet, the perfect blend of politically-inspired ignorance mixed with education, or “ignoration” as he calls it. “One day, after coming home from overseas, I was in the studio and wanted to creatively be able to tap into the sounds that have the world lit – but simultaneously be able to trigger discussion and observation through rhymes,” says the Award-winning rapper who also serves as Creative Executive Director at Universal Music Canada. “It was very fun yet difficult to write, record and live with this song. It literally splits me in half between what I feel is right and wrong, for several different reasons. I think the most difficult songs that make you anxious and feel everything with every bone in your body are the ones worth releasing. My fans of all races and persuasions have said this is one of their favorite songs on the album, and the video reminds me of the energy that I grew up with, a mix of Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy, NWA and a little KRS One.”

Kardinal Offishall boasts a wide array of music industry accolades over the years including a Billboard hit single “BaKardi Slang” from Quest for Fire: Firestarter Vol. 1 which is credited with popularizing the term Tdot (Toronto) around the world, and a chart topping single “Dangerous” featuring Grammy nominated Akon, which was a top five hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks and Pop 100 charts and went certified triple platinum in Canada.

The Kardi Gras Volume One: The Clash album taps into Kardinal’s cross genre appeal and influences (reggae/dancehall, hip hop, electronic, soul, trap, orchestral, pop) and features him working with Stephan Moccio (The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion), Stephen Marley, Glenn Lewis, Supa Dups (Bruno Mars, Eminem, John Legend) and others.
