Minister of Tourism Visits New York to Discuss Tourism Growth Plans

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett (right) is currently in New York attending a series of meetings with strategic tourism partners. His first stop was at the corporate headquarters of JetBlue, where he met with senior executives John Checketts, Director Route Planning (left) and Jaclyn Costantino, Analyst Consumer Promotions (3rd left) to discuss plans to drive new markets and forge new partnerships to grow Jamaica’s tourism product. The Minister was accompanied by Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism (2nd right), Donnie Dawson, Deputy Director of Tourism (3rd right) and Francine Carter Henry, Jamaica Tourist Board’s Tour Operator & Airlines Manager.

Commentary

The government is going for growth and improved visitor arrivals can make the difference.

There is need for hard currency that tourism bearings. Cuba now opened is more competition
as an additional player to contend with. Jamaica has language which is spoken by many including our biggest markets USA and Canada.
