Nadal falls to 10th in rankings, worst in a decade; French Open champ Wawrinka rises to No. 4

PARIS _ Rafael Nadal’s loss in the French Open quarterfinals has dropped him three places to No. 10 in the ATP rankings, his lowest spot since April 2005, while champion Stan Wawrinka rose from No. 9 to No. 4.

Novak Djokovic maintained a healthy lead at No. 1 on Monday, despite losing to Wawrinka a day earlier in the final at Roland Garros.

Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori stayed at Nos. 2-5.

Serena Williams‘ 20th Grand Slam title increased her margin at No. 1 in the WTA rankings. Maria Sharapova fell from No. 2 to No. 4 after losing in the French Open’s fourth round a year after winning the title.

Petra Kvitova moved to No. 2.

Lucie Safarova, the runner-up in Paris, went from No. 13 to No. 7.
