TORONTO – Rogers and Shaw Media continue to take aim at Netflix with new additions to their upcoming streaming video service Shomi.

The joint venture between the two media giants has inked a deal with Starz Digital Media for the exclusive streaming rights to past seasons of shows including “Da Vinci’s Demons,” “Black Sails” and “The White Queen.”

Other Starz shows that will be available on Shomi include “Power,” a New York-based crime drama from executive producer Curtis “ 50 Cent” Jackson, and an upcoming comedy called “Survivor’s Remorse.”

The announcement comes on the heels of last week’s deal with 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, as Shomi aims to ramp up excitement ahead of its launch in November.

In that deal, Shomi nabbed the streaming video rights to FX and FXX series including “American Horror Story” and “Sons of Anarchy,” as well as Fox hits including “Modern Family,” “New Girl” and “Sleepy Hollow.”

When Shomi launches next month, it will be available initially to Rogers and Shaw internet and cable customers at a cost of $8.99 a month.
