New NAACP President Derrick Johnson on Missouri boycott, future of NAACP at NPC Headliners Luncheon, Aug. 29

WASHINGTONAug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — New NAACP President Derrick Johnson will address the future of the NAACP at a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Johnson, a longstanding leader of the NAACP, assumed the interim presidency in July and is tasked with leading the organization through a period of “re-envisioning and reinvigoration,” the organization said in its announcement of Johnson’s new post.

The NAACP recently drew national attention when it issued a travel advisory for Missouri, calling for African American travelers to “exercise extreme caution when traveling through the state given the series of questionable, race-based incidents occurring statewide.”

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for Club members, who may purchase two tickets at this rate, and $39 for all other non-member tickets.
