News Release: Controversy Surrounding JLP’s PAYE Promise & Surrounding Issues

NDM Press Release re Promised PAYE Tax-Break- 10-04-2016

This is a release from Jamaica’s third party National Democratic Movement (NDM)

Spokesman on Finance, Audlew ShawCommentary

Third parties do not do well in Jamaica and the NDM for example does not even have a seat in Parliament. The constitution allows for a voice to all political parties even without representation in parliament. Strangely this recognition is still legal in Jamaica. It should be noted they (NDM) get no public funding.
At one point the NDM had 5 percent local support nationally. Bruce Golding left the JLP and founded the NDM … he eventually returned to the JLP as Leader and subsequently Prime Minister.

Term limits, impeachment of elected officials, and fixed election date to name or give an insight into some of the NDM’s thinking. These ideas have been seen to be desirable and could be brought on board soon by the JLP.

A number of NDM Officers went over with Golding to the JLP.

Finance Minister Audley Shaw has stated repeatedly that the 1.5 million dollar Jamaican tax relief will be implemented.
