On the Side lines – Former Commissioner Owen Ellington Barries his Father

Owen Ellington at his fathers funeral

Former Commissioner Owen Ellington caught wiping his tear filled face after he assisted to carry the casket of his father Boswell Samuel Ellington, Papa, at the Greatful Hill Methodist Church’s graveyard, Glengoffe, Jamaica. W.I., Dec. 9, 2015.

Owen was a model of grief when he walked away …. presumably to hosts his guests at the repast. ….he appeared to be in a reflective mood. Thought they say “tough guys do not cry”. Curious onlookers were observed fixing their gaze on the former top cop. Some onlookers, especially women could not hide their grief either. An estimated 2500 were in attendance … the funeral was so well attended “it spoil” as we say locally.

The top cop was very much involved in all aspects of his father’s funeral ….. he showed real compassion. A baptised Christian, Owen demonstrated genuine Christian love. He (Owen) won the admiration of many., based on comments heard.
