Perspective: NCDA Plays Role In Recovering Lives ….
We note the recent forum and subsequent report on same in Vision Newspaper. This is a step in the right direction. Also we note the comments of recovering addict Lopez. The National Council On Drug Abuse (NCDA). is the body charged with the responsibility for making a dent in the reduction of drugs known to be abused.
Public Education
The NCDA is about substance abuse reduction, public awareness, sensitization, and pubic education to name a few if not all of its major functions.
Counselling
Counselling to potential and actual users/abusers of street and addictive type drug use practices and to advise the relevant state authorities on trends also could be seen as one of its main services or functions.
Services to recovering abusers and coordination with like bodies are among its slate of must get done activities.

We frown on Drug abusers …
As we see them as losers
When you turn to dope …
You are saying you cannot cope
Ganja has medicinal value
But misuse will be of zero value
Damaging your brain …
Causing you … untold pain
Cocaine will bring untold pain
Without any apparent gain …
It will contaminate the brain
That will happen, again & again
Alcohol is legally sold …
Yet can fall in the wrong fold …
Unkind grief we see unfold …
Traffic deaths we have to scold
You slide down a slippery slope
Needing rehab to cope …
With life on substance support
Such is not a good report …
There is a high human cost
As too many lives are lost
Hapless victims are led astray … Stop it! … There is another way
Whitney, Prince & Michael gone
Their habits …were a pawn …
Ruining lives that did adorn …
Forcing us to reflect with scorn
National Council On Drug Abuse
Trying to help those who misuse
Be a volunteer today …
Help someone onto a sober tier
Show loved ones you do care
This will help our nation …
With much needed production
Get off the proverbial fence
Let us strengthen our defense
Some prescribed drugs .. abused
We are oftentimes confused ….
Get high on abstention …
This will be the best intervention
Opioid readily comes to mind …
The effects, Oh so unkind …
Of Wrecked lives .. even deaths
Too many lives it does wreck …
Statistics on abstention prove …
That production will improve
Recovering many from distress
Alas! One saved life is a success
Who needs drugs to cope …?
Help play a part to attack dope Working to play our little part …
By saving lives that are caught
Many sniff solvents …
From homes even with agents ..
Fell addicted to these scents …. To many such make no sense
