Perspective: Youth Unemployment Down

There has been a 9.7 percent …a reduction of 1.2 percent are employed. 1009 male 9 percent and for women to 17 percent.  Youth unemployment down 7 percent from 31 to 24.  This dramatic drop in unemployment is success and should be recognized and applauded.

State Of Emergency

Strong support for State of Emergency in western Jamaica is welcomed news. One resident said he would want them “on his verandah and they could enter his fridge and drink what they want.” Interesting!

Crime Reduction

The crime situation has stabilized considerably, since the state of emergency when we specifically look at St. James … 65 percent reduction in homicide and other major crimes is being quoted by the police.

Tourism has not been affected according to Tourism Minister Bartlett.  We hope this trend continues as it is good for our public image and economy. The government made a sound move.
