Poetic Perspective: Supreme Court & Jury Duty

Met the good, the not so good and the cutie …
On this my new tour of jury duty
Greeted the odd stranger, the ugly, and things of beauty …
Alas!  potential jurors left to bake
Such is by no means first rate …
Left to bake in a windowless room …
With no assistance expected soon …

Then there is the jury pool …
For some reason many are never empaneled …
Others are selected repeatedly …
Random is supposed to be these turfs …
Still, it is not clear how the system works …
The system seem incapable of distributing the meager “perk”
This conduct could mortally hurt?

Is Jury getting the full respect they deserve?
Or the powers at be feel there is an untapped reserve?
Chief Justice Mcalla et al give good support …
That is a great report …

Jurors are not stupid as some may think …
They are judges of the facts  … The Jurors usually deliver verdicts in a blink …
Although selected at random from a pool
This does not equate them to being a fool …
They are rarely schooled in the law …
This fact does not impair or appall …

Alas!  Each bring to the table a host of life experience …
So to get a unanimous verdict is as complex as their selection
This appears simple, but can be a complex situation …

They should never be subjective …
Honestly, at times it is difficult to be always objective …
Never waiting indefinitely for written opinion …
Which could end up in confusion

Let us put more resources in the Jury system …
As we try to insulate it from undue criticism …
This is great national service …
The justice system needs the service …
To do otherwise would be of great disservice …
What is your perspective?
The jury system is quite effective.
