Rihanna’s Mom Monica Present Her With Icon Award At AMAs [VIDEO]

This is enough to make Rihanna’s homeland Barbados and her hardcore fans proud.

Rihanna’s mother. Monica Fenty, presented with the first ever AMA Icon Award at Sunday night’s American Music Awards ceremony at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

Rihanna sold over 50 million albums, 180 million singles, has more than 10 million followers on Instagram, 32 million on Twitter, and 80 million fans on Facebook. It doesn’t get better than that.

Mama Fenty was very proud of her daughter’s achievement and shared some kind words while handing her the award.

“Rihanna I’m so proud of you tonight,” Monica Fenty said. “I know the journey in your career has not always been an easy one but tonight I applaud and admire you for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused. Its amazing how you always manage to take good from all your experiences. Im so blessed to be a part of this historic moment. I just want to say how proud I am to present to you the first ever AMA iconic award.”

Before Rihanna’s mom took the stage, Jay-Z shared a special message to Rihanna via a video.

“It’s been great honor and incredible pride that I present you with this first ever AMA icon award,” Jay-Z, who mentored Rihanna, said.
