Successful 2013 for Konshens

Red-hot dancehall star Konshens enjoyed a productive 2013, scoring hit singles one after the other. The artiste, whose real name is Garfield Spence, has been a staple on the local and international dancehall circuits.

 

Hits such as Walk And Wine, Couple Up, Weak, and I’m Coming kept Konshens on the charts and in music-video rotation.

 

In a release to the media, Konshens said that 2013 “was a great year, nuff hit songs, nuff major moves and lots of new fans”.

 

The artiste also released his sneaker line, Konz876, to much fanfare. The sneaker line has been well received with launches held locally and overseas.

 

Performance-wise, Konshens kept things busy on the local scene as well as in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and North America. The artiste is working on his sophomore solo album, which is due for release later this year.

 

He recently picked up a record, setting eight nominations in the 2014 staging of the Youth View Awards (YVA).

 

Among the categories for which Konshens earned nominations are Favourite Summer Song of 2013 forCelebration, featuring Ding Dong, I-Octane, and Christopher Martin, and Couple Up; Fashion Icon Male; Celebrity Role Model; Favourite Musical Collaboration of the Year for Pull Up To Mi Bumper, featuring J Capri; and Favourite Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

 

Commenting on the nominations he received in the YVA, Konshens said, “We’ll see how the YVA goes.”
