TPDCo To Host a Series of Church Services to Kickstart 20th Anniversary Celebrations

WHAT: Invites coverage of a special church service to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo)

WHEN: Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 8:00 a.m.

WHERE: St. Andrew Parish Church, 6 Hagley Park Road, Kingston 10, Jamaica.

BACKGROUND: The TPDCo will be hosting church services at the St. Andrew Parish Church in Kingston; William Knibb Memorial Baptist Church in Montego Bay; St. Georges Anglican Church in Negril; St. Ann’s Bay Baptist Church in Ocho Rios; Christ Church in Portland and the Mandeville Parish Church, Mandeville, on Sunday April 17, 2016 as part of a year-long celebration commemorating the agency’s 20th anniversary. The churches were specially selected because of their historical value. In fact, most of the churches have already been declared national heritage sites. Minister of Tourism Hon. Edmund Bartlett will address the congregation of the St Andrew Parish Church and his message will also be read during the other church services across the island. TPDCo has been in operation since April, 1996 and has positively contributed to the industry over the years by fulfilling its mandate to facilitate the diversification, development and improvement of Jamaica’s tourism product.

Commentary

Vision congratulates the visionary leadership which conceptualized and saw to the enhancement of the Tourism product using the vehicle named as the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCO. The growth and positive developments within the sector can be traced to some of the areas the TPDCO saw fit to focus on in keeping with its mandate.

TPDCO’s Mandate

The Tourism Development
Company’s (TPDCO) is mandated to licence hotels and grant licence to tour operators. etc. As it’s name suggests, it is
a product development company … established to enhance the growth and improvement of the toursism product which could be room, attraction, transportation and possibly other product offerings.

Founded in 1996 this body has been a beacon in the tourism sector. Twenty years of solid achievements is something to celebrate.
