Jurors in the Vybz Kartel murder trial have been sent home until tomorrow morning.

They are expected to return at 10.

Presiding Judge, Justice Lennox Campbell dismissed the jurors for the day as a no-case submission process that started yesterday did not end in time for the their return to court.

The trial was expected to begin in the jurors’ presence at 2 o’clock but the prosecution was still responding to the submissions made by defense lawyers.

Justice Campbell assured the 11-member jury that by next week, he will handover the case to them for their deliberation.

Defense lawyers completed their submissions to have the case thrown out this morning.

Lead prosecutor Jeremy Taylor is responding on behalf of the Crown.

If Justice Campbell accepts the submissions from the defense, it could result in the State’s murder case against Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused being thrown out.

The Crown is alleging that Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer; entertainer Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm; André St John; Shane Williams; and Kahira Jones, murdered Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams on August 16, 2011.

It is alleged that Williams was killed at Kartel’s Havendale, St Andrew house over two missing guns.
