3 dead, 27 injured in Dominican Republic bus crash involving migrants
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic _ Authorities in the Dominican Republic say three Haitian migrants have died in a bus crash and another 27 were injured.
A traffic division spokesman says the accident occurred Thursday in a mountainous area northwest of the capital of Santo Domingo.
Diego Pesqueira said the bus ran off the road and hit a tree. He said authorities are determining what caused the accident.
The bus belongs to the Migration Office and is used to transport migrants back to neighbouring Haiti following the expiration of a deadline to apply for legal residency.
