Andrew Holness Calls for Zero-Tolerance Approach to Gangs Within the JCF

Kingston, Jamaica – Prime Minister Andrew Holness has issued a strong statement emphasizing the need for a zero-tolerance approach to gang ties within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). In a post shared on his social media, Holness reiterated his government’s commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring that law enforcement remains focused on justice and safety.

Holness expressed concerns about the infiltration of criminal elements into law enforcement and communities, stating, “There’s no place in the JCF for ties to gangs. No officer should be taking money, sharing information, or maintaining friendships with known criminals. This is non-negotiable.”

The Prime Minister highlighted how some criminals disguise themselves as “community leaders,” gaining trust while engaging in activities that harm society. He stressed that such a culture cannot continue and called for the new leadership of the JCF to implement stringent measures to address this issue.

The Jamaican government has been under pressure to tackle crime and corruption, with gang violence remaining a persistent challenge across the island. Holness’ message reflects his administration’s intention to rebuild trust in the JCF by rooting out corruption and reinforcing a culture of accountability.

This statement comes as the JCF undergoes significant leadership changes, signaling a renewed effort to address internal and external challenges. Holness emphasized that the future of Jamaica depends on a police force that operates with integrity and prioritizes the safety of citizens.

The call for action has resonated widely, with citizens and organizations urging strong measures to ensure that the force remains free from criminal influence.
