Barbados Canada Association goes All-Inclusive for 2024 Independence Gala
Toronto, Ontario – The Barbados Canada Association (BCA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming Independence Fundraising Gala, a festive celebration of Barbadian heritage, culture, and community impact, set for November 30, 2024, at the Scarborough Convention Centre in Scarborough, Ontario.
This annual signature event, hosted under the patronage of the Consul General of Barbados, marks the 58th anniversary of Barbados’ Independence. The 2024 gala not only honors the island’s vibrant culture but also serves a charitable mission: raising funds to support the Barbados Disaster Management Relief Fund and scholarships for students in environmental management studies.
For this year’s gathering, the BCA has taken the celebration up a notch by going all-inclusive. Attendees can look forward to a dynamic experience showcasing the rich flavors and vibrant spirit of Barbados through authentic cuisine, entertainment, and guest speakers. The evening promises an array of hors d’oeuvres, a three-course dinner, and a dessert table filled with beloved Bajan treats. Complementing the culinary experience will be live musical performances and a silent auction with unique offerings from local businesses, artisans, and sponsors.
A mix of modern elegance and traditional Bajan flair will define the gala’s ambiance, hosted by popular Toronto radio and TV personality Redd. Highlights of the evening include a performance by acclaimed Barbadian artist Kristin Lasonta, along with a headlining act by the internationally renowned Barbadian band 2 Mile Hill, which has shared the stage with major music industry names.
In line with the BCA’s Memorandum of Understanding with Barbados’ Department of Emergency Management (DEM), proceeds from the gala will be directed toward a fund that strengthens Barbados’ readiness for natural disasters by providing essential supplies and resources.
Reflecting on the theme for this year’s gala, “From Fields to Festivals,” BCA President Mark Hoyte remarked, “We wanted to remind the diaspora of where we came from and what it took to get to where we are with independence and now as a republic; the journey must not be forgotten and celebrated.”
The Barbados Canada Association warmly invites all to join in celebrating Barbados’ 58th Independence and contributing to a worthy cause on Saturday, November 30, 2024. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Scarborough Convention Centre, 20 Torham Place, Scarborough, ON.
