Black History Month Celebration: Harlem Documentary

February 24, 2022 | Vision Newspaper |

Canadian Oscar-Winning filmmaker Malcolm Clarke joins efforts with producer Martina Adamcova to film a documentary about the architecture of Harlem and its neighborhood.

History is power. History is self-determination. And most importantly, history is a landmark of our roots.

Harlem and its story are a significant part of African-American history, culture, and identity.

Harlem is under a deconstruction and redevelopment campaign impacting its architectural landmarks. As a result, these legendary buildings are slowly being torn apart to make way for new developments, and with that, go down the stories they tell. The stories of Black History are vanishing along with the memories of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Louis Armstrong.

Director Malcolm St-Pierre is currently filming with his crew on the streets of Harlem. His documentary contributes to Black History Month and recognizes the basic human need for belonging, land, and the past.
