BLACK UNSUNG HEROES SUBMISSION LINES OFFICIALLY CLOSES IN 14 DAYS

BSM Volunteer Awards Nomination CALL 2016(Toronto Ontario) – With less than two (2) weeks left till our lines closes, we encourage the general public to get actively involved and submit your Black Unsung Hero(oes) of choice.

Black Star Movement (BSM), formerly the Canadian African Caribbean Committee (CACC) is an organization formed in January 2011, with a goal to Educate, Highlight and Empower those with the Pan African message of “One Supreme Creator, One Aim, One Destiny”. The team comprises of volunteer advocated determined to continuously shine light on Notable Blacks.

In November 2011, BSM launched the Unsung Heroes Volunteer Awards to celebrate Unrecognized Blacks in Canada; who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to volunteering their unique knowledge, skills, concepts and abilities to the advancement of various communities in which they serve.

The awards are bestowed to unrecognized individuals, groups and organizations who have developed and nurtured strong ties while giving of themselves above and beyond to maintain the potent Black Heritage Culture. BSM makes it possible annually for the community to get involved and identify unrecognized distinguished acts of volunteerism and leadership. Everyone is encouraged to put persons forward who have exhibited outstanding volunteer contributions in Canada and Internationally for consideration.

Applications are now being accepted for Black Youths ages 10-17, Adults ages 18 +, groups and organizations deserving of special recognition. The 2016 Unsung Heroes Awards will honour outstanding volunteer excellence and achievements in eleven (11) categories: Media, Athlete, Health Care, Entertainment, Business, Law Enforcement Officer, Education, Fine Arts, Leadership, Social Justice Advocate and Social Justice Activist. Accurately completed applications must be submitted by Thursday June 30, 2016 to be favourably considered.
