As the great United States Of America descends into chaos following this unprecedented assault on democracy the President-Elect Joseph Biden addressed the American people:. We bring you excerpts of what Biden had to say:
“This is not a protest, this is insurrection. I call on President Trump to stop this now. The certification of the Election College vote is sacred. Democracy must be protected. Children watching … America is better than this today. This is an assault on our democracy. This is bordering in sedition. Quoting from former President Abraham Lincoln the President-Elect was not mincing words.
“I call on President Trump to go on national TV and put an end to this”
A rather annoyed yet controlled and even blunt Biden was not amused with what was unfolding in the nation’s capital.
Nancy Pelosi, Chairman of the Democratic party also joined in the call for President Trump to ask protesters to leave the Capitol building.
Former Chairman of the Republican National Committee and strategist, has condemned the attack on the US Capitol building. He said Trump can be removed by the VP by article 25 of the US Constitution. He can be deposed even at this late stage. Another commentator said:
“A charge of Sedition can be brought against President Trump.” A noted law professor.
Continuing Biden said inter alia:
“Respect and decency, I remain optimistic … we must step up together. May God bless America. God protect our Troops.”
His statement had come after mobs have stormed the capital. The certification had to be postponed.
Trump responded by asking his supporters to go home and be peaceful.
It was a disgraceful act of defiance by Trump’s supporters. Trump had incited his supporters to protest the certification of Biden. Trump is still tweeting that the election was stolen, without presenting any credible proof. This is tantamount to a coup. What a shame!
