Morgan Heriatge grammy awards

The Ministry of Youth and Culture congratulates Morgan Heritage on winning the Grammy for Best Reggae Album at the 58 Grammy Awards held last evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The group won for their album ‘Strictly Roots’, which topped the Billboard Reggae Album Chart when it was released last April. “We are extremely proud of the recognition that this top reggae group has now gotten for their outstanding work in creating sweet reggae music,” said the Minister of Youth and Culture, the Honourable Lisa Hanna.
She went on to add that this win comes at a time when the Ministry is moving to have reggae inscribed on the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s (UNESCO) representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

“Reggae is a big part of our culture and it is always a great feeling when our artists are recognized on an international platform, especially on a grand stage such as the Grammy,” added the Minister.

Minister Hanna expressed her sentiments of best wishes and congratulations to both Gramps and Peetah Morgan in a phone call last evening after their win.

Vision is very proud of Morgan Heritage, especially for getting this award in Reggae Month and also Black History Month. As my Parishioner you can image how proud the undersigned is about this recognition. All the success for the future.
