Dancehall Star Ding Dong Announced as Final Headliner for TD Jerk Fest 2024
Toronto, ON – The stage is set for an exhilarating cultural celebration as the 2024 TD International Jerk Food and Music Festival announces its final weekend headliner: Dancehall artist Ding Dong. Taking place from August 9th to 11th at Centennial Park in Etobicoke, this year’s festival promises a vibrant mix of music, food, and community activities.
Musical Lineup:
- Ding Dong: Known for his infectious energy and signature dance moves, Ding Dong has become a staple in the Dancehall scene. His debut album Loyal won a Reggae Academy Award, and hits like “Fling Yuh Shoulder” and “Syvah” have topped the US Billboard Reggae Chart. Ding Dong’s dynamic performances, paired with his captivating dances, are set to electrify the festival audience.
- Marcia Griffiths: Renowned as the Queen of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths will grace the stage with her timeless classics and powerful vocals, offering a memorable experience for reggae enthusiasts.
- Farmer Nappy: Bringing the vibrant beats of Soca, Farmer Nappy’s lively performance will keep the crowd dancing with his infectious rhythms.
- Masicka: The festival kicks off with new-generation dancehall sensation Masicka, who will set the tone on Friday night with his contemporary sound and lyrical prowess.
Anthony Plummer, Founder and Executive Director of Caribbean Promotions Arts and Culture Inc., shared his excitement: “We’ve got a fantastic roster of international talent lined up to hit the TD JerkFest stage with soca, dancehall, and reggae vibes! Our final headliner, Ding Dong, will have the audience up and moving with his iconic songs and dances.”

In addition to stellar musical performances, the TD JerkFest offers an array of engaging activities:
- #BlackFoodEnergy Demo Tent: Sponsored by DoorDash Canada, this tent will host live cooking demonstrations by Chef Leon Rowe of Heaven’s Kitchen and Chef Nicole King of MsKingsKitchen. These culinary experts will showcase their skills and share mouthwatering Caribbean recipes at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 5:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
Chef Leon Rowe, founder of Heaven’s Kitchen, draws inspiration from global flavors to create delightful culinary experiences, while Chef Nicole King, the founder of MsKingsKitchen, offers healthy meal preparation and catering services through her virtual cooking show and ghost kitchen.
- Culinary Delights: Festival-goers can indulge in delicious dishes from prominent Caribbean restaurants such as 9 Mile Jamaican Cuisine, TricNic Jerk Centre, and Spotlight Caribbean Restaurant. This initiative is supported by DoorDash Canada’s #BlackFoodEnergy program, dedicated to celebrating and amplifying Black chefs and Black-owned restaurants.
