DELANDO COLLEY x DALE VIRGO – JUST KEEP ON FIGHTING

Delando Colley (born April 29, 1995 at the Mandeville hospital) knew from a tender age that music was his calling. Growing up in Rose Valley, a small community in rural St. Elizabeth, he spent most of his past time listening to past reggae icons like Barrington Levy, Beres Hammond, and Yellow Man. Delando explains that these artists inspired him to explore his passion for the art and sought to chase his destiny of becoming an Artiste.

Delando went from singing to the furniture in his home to performing on Rising Stars to a televised audience of over One (1) Million viewers each week. When asked what drove him to enter the competition at such a tender age, Colley expressed that he was influenced by past Rising Stars Champions Christopher Martin and Romaine Virgo who dominated the competition, despite their age.

The Digicel Rising Star competition was Delando’s first introduction to the world as a performer. He described it as a “life-changing” experience. Despite his many adversities, Colley was able to deliver an amazing rendition of Michael Jackson’s-When I had you. He vividly remembers receiving the call from the producers of the show who then told him was had been awarded a spot in the competition. May 21, 2011 signified the start of a new phase in the Artiste’s singing career.

Week after Week, Delando endured the spotlight facing criticism from the Judges and the public alike, proving to Jamaica that his Dream was no Fallacy but the result of True Grit, Determination & Talent. Delando’s tenure on Rising Stars ended with 3rd Place, falling short of grasping the Rising Stars Title, Delando was Proud. Proud of achieving a feat that he thought wasn’t possible. After his success in the competition, he saw it as a sign to commit to his career.

Since then, Delando has worked with several musical icons like Taurus Riley, I-Octane and Bugle. His first single “When Your Love Went Away,” was on heavy rotation in Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Ghana. His music gained tremendous support from African audiences, who fell in love with his mesmerizing sound and charm.
Delando’s Music career was put on hold, as he saw it fit to broaden his scope about the art of music by pursuing a degree in Music at the Prestige Edna Manley College of Performing Arts. He saw it as necessary investment to a successful music career. Since then Delando has committed to pursuing his music career full-time.

Delando Colley is truly a force to be reckoned with and has high hopes of topping the billboard charts in the near future. “Instead of waiting on someone to provide an opportunity, create your own path to success,” says Colley. He encourages upcoming artistes to never give up on their dreams, regardless of how impossible it might seem at the time.
