Telecommunications company and lead sponsor of the recently held Shaggy & Friends concert 2014, Digicel, is congratulating the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation for a successful staging of the event, which was held on the lawns of Jamaica House on Saturday.

After weeks of being the most talked about event of the New Year, the fourth staging of the highly anticipated concert saw well over 15,000 patrons coming out to see their favourite artistes. Additionally, Digicel recently announced that through a live stream of the concert that it provided, there were 2.6 million views, with 253,966 unique viewers around the world.

According to a very pleased Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell, “Tickets were sold out for the show. the turnout was great. the concert was incident free, and for that we are very happy. Shaggy & Friends is more than a concert. it’s an experience, and based on the feedback from persons that I spoke with on the ground, the flow was very good and there were no long breaks. That was our intent for the show – to keep it going, and hopefully, the patrons left with that feeling.”

Digicel’s marketing director, Peter Lloyd, said they were also very pleased with the overall experience. “It’s not easy to host an event of this magnitude, so partnership is very important. We are therefore delighted to have partnered with Wisynco and Scotia Bank, among others, for such a great cause.”

The Cardiac Wing at the hospital, for which ground was broken last year, is well under way for completion in the first quarter of 2014.

To help increase the level of financial support for the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the telecommunications company also launched a text line – 444-2498 – until January 15. Each text costs J$50 and all funds from this text line will be donated to the foundation.
