Doug and Mary pose for our camera … they stated that they are residents from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Jamaica is my favourite island … Mary said “I like the music, like the jerk chicken”.Maroon Annual Jan. 6 Festival
Doug said “the people are friendly and great … very welcoming. We have been having a super time at this Maroon Celebratory Festival … we plan to return. … the weather is excellent”

We caught up with them as they strolled through the crowded streets at the well attended annual celebratory festival at Accompong, a maroon enclave. This is a government within Jamaica … as a result of wars won against the British in the 1700s.

You will recall that the British captured Jamaica from the Spanish in 1655.
