Update

The PM Andrew Michael Holness has recommend that the DPP’s contract be extended for a further three (3) years.
PM Holness said inter alia:
“We do not accept the position being taken by the Opposition. There has been considerable development at the DPP’s office. Also there is need to prepare for transition at the DPP’s office. I will recommend an extension for a further three (3) years.” The PM concluded.
The Director Of Public Prosecution (DPP) Ms. Paula Llewellyn turns 60 come September 2020 her legal retirement age. Under our constitution a public official must retire at age 60. This does not apply to Judges and others who have specific retirement ages.
Extension Of Time

The DPP has asked the Governor General by letter for an extension of time, so she can retire at a later date. She must leave at age 65. We are told that the Constitution stipulates that. We are not sure if she wants two or more additional years. Two more years is what is being rumoured.
Opposition
The constitution also states that the PM should consult with the Opposition Leader on such matters.
This does not give the Opposition veto powers.
Extension
The government through PM Holness will extend her employment contract for three more years as stated above.
