Perspective

Good for those billionaires, see hope they are happy and socially responsible … pay their workers a decent living way, good benefits and a security of tenure.

The fact that people are considered poor relative to say a millionaire/billionaire does not automatically mean they are not happy or are enjoying a acceptable standard of living.  Money can buy many things but not necessarily contentment or happiness.

Self Actualization

Many persons in their poverty by world standards find joy in their religious beliefs, their profession/vocation etc. that gives them joy and let them feel actualized.  Maslow, the great behavioural theorist alluded to this fact. We all have heard about Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.

Let us not therefore promote the myth that wealth is the end all to man’s fulfilment.

Extreme Poverty

Do not think I am promoting extreme poverty … not at all. Such would be madness. Good sanitation, nutritious meals, safe drinking water, security of the person are all desirable and necessary  ingredients for a feeling of wellbeing. Respect for the individual and racial harmony are also needed in a civilized society.

State Protection

When agents of the state wrong a citizen, for example a wrongful shooting or abuse of any kind are acceptable. That is why inquests must be held swiftly so closure can occur.

We await with bated breaths all inquests outstanding, especially in Ontario, Canada.
