Fighting famine in Cameroon – The LÉGER FOUNDATION needs your generosity!

The LÉGER FOUNDATION has joined the Famine Relief Fund to help over 34 million children, women and families in Africa who are facing a severe and life-threatening food crisis. The LÉGER FOUNDATION, which is currently responding to the humanitarian needs of over 40,000 people in the Far North region of Cameroon, wants to provide additional emergency aid to communities threatened by famine. The populations of several affected countries and regions, including Nigeria, South Sudan and the Far North region of Cameroon, have been displaced by conflict, which means that people can’t feed their families or find drinking water. The LÉGER FOUNDATION needs your support to take action right now!

Until June 30, 2017, the Government of Canada will match all donations raised by the LÉGER FOUNDATION and other eligible charities to respond to this humanitarian crisis. Give and help the LÉGER FOUNDATION save lives! We invite the public to be generous by making a cash donation to the LÉGER FOUNDATION at www.leger.org.

Situation in Cameroon
The crisis in the Far North Region of Cameroon is directly affecting nearly 1.5 million people. In March 2017, an estimated 223,642 displaced people (39,002 households) found refuge there after fleeing the atrocities of the Boko Haram insurgency. In addition to the violence, food insecurity and malnutrition in the Far North region have reached a critical level. This is why the LÉGER FOUNDATION, with the support of Global Affairs Canada and in partnership with the CDD – Caritas in Cameroon, is launching an emergency humanitarian aid project to help these displaced individuals.
