This will be followed by the main high-level meetings of Heads Friday and Saturday.
The opening ceremony was preceded by four fora, ministerial meetings, side-events and other activities.
Top on the agenda is the selection of a Secretary-General which has two main contenders, the incumbent Baroness Patricia Scotland and Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister in Jamaica, Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith.
The Jamaican delegation is being led by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
As the President of the UN General Assembly and as a fellow commonwealth citizen, it was an honour to attend the spectacular #CHOGM2022 opening.
