Floy Dexx: “Bob Marley Is The Greatest Reggae Artiste”

July 11, 2022 | By Supa Pea |

Floy Dexx, a hip hop/ reggae artiste and record producer, will never lose touch with the tough-talking rappers like Biggie Smalls and Tupac. But, if he was asked to put the X beside his favourite reggae artiste, that artiste would be no other than Jamaica’s Bob Marley.

“For me, Bob has demonstrated to be the greatest, and I will tell you why. He is a big inspiration to people all over the world, including USA where I was born.

“Bob’s music is part of our story, so he allows us to look into our past, present and prepares us for the future.”

It is therefore not surprising that Floy has jumped on a hip hop/ reggae album like Certified Gold. His song is titled Tropic Nights.

“I have confidence that anything with reggae is good for me. It has been good for so many artistes who come from Jamaica and elsewhere, and my music is a combination of hip- hop and the good Jamaican reggae music.”

The album produced by Michael “Beatbopper” Hudgins has some 19- tracks. It will be released  August, 2022 ahead of Dei Della Musica set for September 2022. It will feature artistes including Johanze.

Born Ernest Slusher,  Floy lives in Belize City, Los Angeles, California, USA.

“My ambition in life was to become a music artiste and inspire people by talking the truth. My dad had always been encouraging me towards my dream.

“The community I grew up in has allowed me to witness the gruesome reality of the streets and what it might take to make it out  of poverty.”

Floy’s interest in music began at age 10, writing songs  about his life. At age 16, he took himself through college by  producing other artistes. He got thumbs up for producing a mixtape which sold some 10,000 copies during the first month’s sale.

In 2016, he worked alongside artistes Snoop Dogg and  Famous Dex.

Among his favourite songs are Tropic Nights, The One, Flawless and Press Play.
