Today is the funeral of our senior international correspondent and veteran journalist Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie.  Hopeton was a member of the Vision Newspaper family from October 2015 till his passing on December 29th, 2022. He was a constant at Jamaican Government press conferences and was a regular caller of local radio talk shows like Cliff Hughes. He has sat down and interviewed dignitaries from around the world.

Before his passing Hopeton wrote his last poetic commentary;

If I liveth not another Day…

This weekend was one of Ray…

Being a perfect Dad

Would indeed be sad

Write this on my epitaph…

That at times i was confused and sad

If that is what it takes to be a loved dad …

I say for goodness sake, ride on …

Continue to consort with the also ran …

Alas, Those of perceived perfection …

Are confined to a desperate situation …

Thank you Dinah, Marsha, Lisa and Tanika

My granddaughters Eliana and Azania

And my wife Willa

Oon u tallawah
