Guyana fires veteran national tax chief
GEORGETOWN, Guyana _ Guyana’s government has fired its head tax collector, accusing him of releasing confidential taxpayer information, falsifying pension plan documents and maintaining a fleet of government vehicles at his home.
Officials say they’re auditing the Guyana Revenue Authority.
Ex-commissioner Kurshid Sattaur denied the allegations on Saturday and said that administration that took power last May has been pressuring him to rehire people fired for corruption and to hire political favourites.
