Hon. Kamina J. Smith Contributes to Greening Project in India
New Delhi, India — Hon. Kamina J. Smith, Senator & Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, marked her last day in India by participating in a significant tree-planting ceremony. The event was part of the legacy greening initiative led by H.E. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and honoring maternal figures through the Plant4Mother campaign.
Smith was honored to be the first invitee to plant a tree in the quadrangle of the Sushma Swaraj Foreign Service Institute, a symbol of diplomatic relations between India and Jamaica. The tree planting coincided serendipitously with National Planting Day in Jamaica, reinforcing the shared values of both nations.
On my last day in India, it was wonderful to make another contribution to the legacy greening project of H.E. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of planting trees in honour of one’s mother #plant4mother.
