Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord ….

There was jubilation as the Christ Child rode through the streets of Jerusalem on the most basic of animals, a donkey … crowds gathered and waved palms, singing songs of welcome, some even threw their clothes on the pavement as they warmly greeted the King of Kings.  He was treated like royalty.
Palm Sunday ServiceA week later he was convicted by a “Kangaroo Court” with Pilate washing his hands, as he acted in complicity in Jesus’ trial. He (Jesus) was condemned to death by crucifixion (on a cross) in public and in a most humiliating way.
What a difference a can week make and the tremendous impact this time span and  the contrasting unfolding events have had on mankind … especially for those of the Christian faith.

Jesus must have been quite elated at the reception He got as he rode through the streets of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  It is widely believed that some of the same persons who hailed him as He passed were some of the same who said “crucify Him.” on Good Friday.  Rev. Khan Honeyghan in his sermon to congregants at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, on Palm Sunday said inter alia “it was a strange set of events.  It may have even confused many.”
