MHPM EMANCIPATION MESSAGE 2016

Emancipation was achieved by Jamaica W.I. This was the dress rehearsal for full freedom from slavery. Each year we celebrate emancipation or pre freedom. This is a signal accomplishment … worthy of celebrating.

Emancipation was 1834 and full freedom was 1838. The period after was turbulent as free blacks began to assert themselves and thereby push the button for their personal success and to fulfil their ambitions.

In 1865 was the Morant Bay Rebellion (War). This led if not opened the door to the police force JCF) 1867, then internal self government. The rest is history and well recorded.

Independence August 6, 1962 the Crown Jewel.

We should therefore view these historic developments as a march to independence.
