IMA and NABA Announce Memorandum of Understanding

Partnership focuses on advancing diversity and inclusion in the accounting profession

MONTVALE, N.J.Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — IMA®  (Institute of Management Accountants) and the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) today announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the advancement of minorities and encourage inclusion within the accounting profession and in the marketplace as a whole.

The MoU, signed by IMA President and CEO Jeff Thomson, CMA, CAE, and NABA President and CEO Jina Etienne, CPA, expands their current relationship and outlines the basis for ongoing cooperation, collaboration and alignment between the two organizations. Partnership tactics, which include joint webinars, speaking engagements, and alignment on thought leadership content, will map back to crucial themes for both organizations: diversity, certification, and the accounting profession.

“Diversity and inclusion is vital to the future of the accounting profession and at IMA we’ve long encouraged and supported the necessity of this within our field,” said Thomson. “Much of what we do at IMA supports moving the accounting profession forward, whether by certification, skills, or overall inclusion, and this marks an important partnership for our organization.”
