Inaugural BUTTERFLY Variety Show honouring Hamilton’s Mitchell Nwabuoku takes place at Rhema Conference Centre on Saturday, December 10, 2022

Juno Award Winner Jully Black Headlines an Inspirational Variety Show to Honour Train Tragedy Victim

TORONTO (November 14, 2021) – The Butterfly Project is pleased to announce the inaugural Butterfly Variety Show to honour four year old train tragedy victim Mitchell Nwabuoku, affectionately known as “Mimi”. The variety show, which features Juno Award Winner and Canada Walk of Fame Inductee, Jully Black, alongside a spectacular lineup of top international talent, takes place at Rhema Conference Centre, located at 40 Carl Hall Road, North York, on Saturday, December 10, 2022, which coincides with Mitchell’s fifth birthday. General admission is $50, and reserved seating plus valet parking is available for $100.

The Butterfly Project, which was formed to create awareness about community safety, consists of Mitchell’s family and friends, and music industry supporters, who have combined forces to deliver a stellar night of global talent, and help shine a spotlight on Mitchell’s tragic commuter train accident in Mississauga, this past July.  The variety show is intentionally named The Butterfly Variety Show since it was the innocent act of chasing a beautiful butterfly on a summer’s day which led to Mimi’s untimely passing. Inspired to honour a parental promise to have a big party for her 5th birthday, the variety show is intentionally scheduled on December 10th, 2022, the little girl’s actual birthday, showtime is 7pm.

In addition to iconic headliner Jully Black, and Canada’s Got Talent finalists Esther and Ezekiel, Dove Awards Winner Jennifer Lewin, Nigerian Gospel Award winner Samsong, there is a growing roster of local and international stars gracing the stage for the Butterfly Variety Show, they include:

She was such an inspiration to us all, and we are going to dance and clap and sing and be joyful, together for a special night of praise, faith and strength.  We are truly humbled and eternally grateful for how community continues to hold us up along our healing journey at the loss of our beloved daughter. The talent are truly stellar, and we know that Jully BlackEsther and EzekielSamsongJennifer Lewin, and the rest of the lineup establish an inspirational blueprint for our commemorative concerts for Mimi to come. This will also open doors to greater dialogue and awareness about her passing.”

The Butterfly Variety Show is hosted by YES TV personality Meisha Watson, and there will be additional talent from Toronto, the GTA and Nigeria confirmed to follow. The Butterfly Variety Show event sponsors are Gospel ConnectionIgrek77, Grandieu, Bethel Gospel Tabernacle, and Diva Culture Inc.
