Jobe Hill Records artiste, Influential, has been generating a big buzz with his latest radio hit, Suffer, on the Jobe Hill Records label.
The video for the single has been in excellent rotation on SWAG TV, HYPE TV, CVM PLUS, and MD TV. He has also done a number of interviews, including Suzie Q’s Video Alley top ten and TVJ’s E-Prime, to promote the project. He premiered the video on the popular CVM’s Hitlist show, and MTV Tempo will put the video in rotation next week.
“Suffer is an important song with a message. a lot of Jamaicans are feeling it and can identify with my struggle and my sacrifice to achieve what I believe in. I have been through a divorce, been separated from my daughter because of music, so I know pain,” he said.
He certainly taps into that wellspring of pain for Suffer, and the streets are responding, with the song hitting several mixtapes in the Corporate Area. The single has triggered a movement in August Town, where the deejay has lived for several years.
“The August Town people a show mi maximum support. mi love dem. Mi just have to give thanks to Mama Elise, Big A, Sunshine, Ron Muschette, Amber, and DJ Wayne, who a play the Suffer song, and all the mixtape deejays who a show love,” he said. “Music must be a medium to convey major emotions. I believe that the message is everything. I am not criticising the catchy songs, but you need solid songs that can reflect the continuing black struggle.”
